What is Biofeedback?

Biofeedback is a method to visualize and train physiological activity that results from the mind-body interface. By using these signals as real-time feedback, people can learn to become aware of usually unconscious processes, thereby being able to self-regulate physiological processes to improve health.

The ultimate goal of biofeedback is to gain more control over physiological processes and influencing-behavior that leads to misbalances in these processes. Biofeedback is about reaching optimal health across physical, mental, and emotional states. It focuses on treating the cause of health problems, rather than treating symptoms. Research shows that biofeedback, alone and in combination with other behavioral therapies, is effective for treating a variety of medical and psychological disorders.

How does a Neuro-Biofeedback session work?

During Neuro-Biofeedback sessions real-time audiovisual feedback is provided based on normalized values. Clients are rewarded for success in terms of scores, by playing music or by showing a picture. Utilizing audiovisual smart technology clients receive immediate feedback.

Why use Biofeedback therapy?

Whether you are seeking treatment to manage chronic pain, reduce medications, depression or anxiety, trauma, PTSD, or addictive behaviors, Neuro-Biofeedback is valuable and effective treatment. The goal at NorthWest BioFeedback Center is to do all we can during your treatment process, to maximize your potential for life-long happiness in recovery.

Awareness is the first step towards change. The basic idea of biofeedback is to provide patients with increased information about their own body and mind interface. Physiological effects are revealed immediately through smart technology feedback. By visually observing these physiological signals, one can understand the effects of their thoughts, feelings and sensations.
